“i got you babe”

My name is Slim Man. I make music. I make meatballs. And I write stories. 

A few years ago, I wrote a screenplay. I Got You Babe. I've written screenplays before, but this one felt right. The screenplay won some awards, and I decided to turn it into a novel. It took a long time. I wrote it myself--no AI. Writing is difficult, and turning the screenplay into a book was quite a challenge. But quite rewarding. The synopsis is down below.

And then there's the music...

There's a soundtrack for I Got You Babe. Ten songs in all, some new, some old, all written by Slim Man. A wide variety of styles, some vocals, some instrumentals, everything pristinely recorded and presented. The song list is down below, beneath the synopsis. These are the songs that go along with the story. The story of Naz, Joey, Zelda and Oscar. And a mouse named Frankie.

I've funded this project on my own. 

When Timothée Chalamet wants to do a new project, I'm pretty sure he's not footing the bill himself! But that's what I've done...so far. But I need help getting this across the finish line. Getting physical copies of vinyl, paperbacks, CDs ain't cheap! Especially when you want everything to look and sound glorious. I want the book to feel substantial when you hold it in your hands. I want the vinyl to look as good as it sounds. I want the whole thing—the book, the music, the artwork, the packaging—to feel elegant and thoughtful. Like somebody cares. Because I do. And I'm putting this project on Kickstarter to help kick this thing through the goalposts.

“PENNIES FROM HEAVEN”

THE “RAT PACK” 5-SONG EP FROM SLIM MAN AND CHASE HUNA

The Slim Man and Chase Huna Rat Pack Duo was an idea that all started at a birthday party. We got invited to perform at a friend's birthday party last year. She wanted the music to be a blend of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, and tons of other hits from the big band swing era. As a present to her, we went into the studio to record one of her favorite songs, "You Don't Know Me" by Cindy Walker. We recorded the song, pressed it on a CD, and presented it to her at the birthday party.

Afterwards, we had the bright idea to turn this into a show--performing the greatest hits, telling stories from the Rat Pack era, and creating incredible moments on stage. And the show took off!

The music sounded so good, we decided to go back into the studio and record some of our favorite songs! We chose our Top Five 5 tunes, stripped them down and built them back up again. We created some GREAT arrangements.

We decided to name the EP "Pennies from Heaven." We know you're gonna love it!
